Yesterday the big WWDC22 took place. This event at which Apple annually presents the latest operating systems and possibilities to developers.
After the typical "Hello and welcome to WWDC!" from CEO Tim Cook, we saw iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura and watchOS 9
Craig showed us the new lockscreen for the iPhone. Finally, a new look! The same design for years was old and made you bored with the sight of it and wanted to unlock the iPhone as fast as possible to get started with the apps.
The new feature, called Safety Check, to manage permissions on third parties, such as partners or family members, more accurately and quickly, represent a step forward against so-called stalkerware. Victims of stalking now have the ability to quickly change passwords, stop sharing locations, and reset access by their Stalkers.
After Apple's debacle with AirTags (after many cases of misuse for stalking people), they seem to have put special emphasis on proving that they are capable of taking measures against stalking. And Apple is obviously capable of doing so.
Finally, there are also improvements for iMessage. It is now possible to delete or edit sent messages.
I hope that now more people will use Apple's own service for short messages and finally turn their backs on WhatsApp (for the record: I hate WhatsApp).
Besides new Watch Faces in watchOS9, the new Apple M2 chip or a cool new login feature called Passkeys that complies with FIDO standards, there are many many more things, but I'm too lazy to list them all ;)
WWDC has just started and this week there will be courses, labs and much more for Developers
See you there!
